The Origin
Cashmere is one of the most luxurious natural fibers. It has its origins in Central Asia among ancient shepherd communities, who use the fiber to protect themselves from the harsh environment. Today, the silky, fine fibers are used to create soft yarns which lay the foundation for woven and knitted fabrics. No other material is as fine and warm as cashmere. Its secret lies in a natural “air chamber” within each fiber, which provides built-in thermoregulation.

The Alfa Coat
An Akris icon, the Alfa was the fashion house’s first cashmere double-face coat, created by Max Kriemler in 1978. Creative Director Albert Kriemler revived the design in 2023 as an homage to his father and in celebration of Akris’ 100 year anniversary.
