Albert Kriemler often finds inspiration in art or architecture that fascinates him. For his Spring/Summer 2021 collection he was inspired by and collaborated with one of the leading artists of minimal art, Imi Knoebel. Distilling the colors and shapes of artworks created by Knoebel, Albert created this vibrant collection that is full of energy and that is meant to cheer us up, to soothe and to strengthen us. While upholding the traditions of Akris in fabric development, printing and sophisticated embroidery, this collection was brought to life in the spirit of “Pure Freude”, meaning pure joy.
Many of the prints of this season are based on a work series of Imi Knoebel from the late 90s that represents the essence of his color-sense. In other items the craftsmanship of the artist, who also creates sculptures, was translated into custom fabrics and signature Akris embroidery.
In a further collaboration, the collection was unveiled through an exclusive film directed by Anton Corbijn, who captured the cuts, fabrics, inspiration and colors of this season in a beautifully refined and elegant way. In the video below Albert discusses his inspiration and collaboration with Imi Knoebel and Anton Corbijn.
